My Independence Day

I caught the red eye out of Salt Lake City the night of July 3rd, which put me in NYC on a gloriously hot 4th of July. Luckily I had held on to John's extra set of keys, that was I didn't have to wake him up at the gosh awful early hour of 6:30am or so on a holiday.
I dragged my bags in and promptly went to bed on the futon. We both kind of emerged around lunch time, so we walked up Broadway, past the diner from Seinfeld (well, just the outside of it, of course they used a set for the inside) and went to a cute local place. Which reminds me, I have a new food rule. I'm not allowed to eat anything from a chain that originated outside of NYC. There are so many different and tasty places to eat, why go to a chain!?
We stopped at Garden of Eden on the way back, the way upscale bodega across the street from his place, and picked up some fix-ins to take to a BBQ later.
The BBQ was at a friends house in Brooklyn that have a rooftop patio. These are the friends that came over for Thanksgiving when I came out last. At least I know some people already!
It started to cool off nicely, and the sunset and view were amazing! I couldn't help but take too many pictures...
This is the view looking towards Manhattan. I'm not quite sure which buildings are which, but I think it's midtown or south of that.
I just loved the colors bouncing of the clouds.

And of course, ME! To prove that I'm actually here!

And last but not least, some real proof that I spent the 4th of July in NYC.

It's a little bit hard to tell, but the lights go from top to bottom, blue, white and red. How very patriotic.
Happy  4th of July!

Become Your Dream

Have you ever seen the movie Pretty Woman? Do you remember the black guy in the beginning, and actually in the end as well, that is crossing the street saying "What's yo dream?! What's yo dream?! Everyone that comes to LA has a dream, what's yo dream?!"

That is what I thought of when I saw this written on a sidewalk in Central Park, NYC.

Just barely a week after walking through Central Park, I had gone home to Utah, packed up my house, and brought a few big bags of clothing and essentials and now I'm living in my little brothers living room on the futon.
Basically, within a few weeks, I uprooted my life and moved to the East Side! Well, the East coast, and right now on the Upper West Side.

So far I am loving my job. I work with great people, I took the place of a pretty cool guy. He moved across the lab, too far to throw anything at, but I can still instant message him when I have questions. Which is good, because the other girl left for London on Sunday. Oh, and did I mention that the guy who is training me is my brother? The one whose futon I'm living on at the moment, my little brother. He's a very important international business man. At least that's what he was mumbling to me, hand thrown in the air, when I asked him to grab me a diet coke at the office.

So far we haven't gotten sick of each other. I poke him when I'm done with the shower and getting ready to leave, and he gets to the office about 15 min after me. (if only my morning preparations only took that long!)
We've started watching The IT Crowd, The West Wing, I've finished both seasons of Sports Night (hence we've moved on to WW).

Move adventures to come, such as monsters, key cards, subway stops and The Strand.
